Benefits of seaweed extract for plants

What is the use of seaweed extract foliar fertilizer for agricultural plants?

The seaweed extract foliar fertilizer is excellent in promoting plant growth, preserving flowers and fruits, improving plant resistance, alleviating pesticide and fertilizer damage, increasing crop yield, and improving the quality of agricultural products. It shows that seaweed extract products are used and recognized by more and more farmers. Why does seaweed extract foliar fertilizer have such a good effect?

Main nutrients

The main nutrients of seaweed extract are divided into two parts: mineral elements and life active substances. The mineral elements absorbed and enriched by seaweeds in the marine environment: there are mainly nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium macroelements and trace elements such as iron, boron, molybdenum, calcium, magnesium, iodine, cobalt, zinc, manganese, and copper. The life active substances in seaweed mainly include: alginic acid, seaweed polysaccharides and oligosaccharides, amino acids, phenolic polymer compounds, mannitol, betaine, natural plant growth regulators (such as cytokinins, gibberellins) and so on.

Functional material composition

  1. Amino acids

Amino acids are the basic components of protein. Since plant self-protection is mostly achieved through various protective enzymes (proteins), the growth environment of deep-water seaweeds is harsh, and the content of protective proteins in seaweeds is much higher than other plants. The essential amino acids of Jingdian Seaweed are extracted from deep-sea seaweeds, which can better increase the protein content of plants, not only can improve the quality of agricultural products, but also improve the ability of crops to be lower than the unfavorable environment.

  1. Plant endogenous hormones

Plant endogenous hormones refer to hormones synthesized by plants themselves. Seaweeds grow fast. They are synthesized in some organs of the plant and then transferred to other plant organs, which can affect growth and differentiation. They play an important role in inhibiting cell growth, promoting organ maturation, and promoting plant growth and development. Phytohormones play an important role in regulating and controlling the growth and development of plants. Seaweed grows fast, and the cell division speed is much higher than that of land plants, so the endogenous hormone levels in seaweed extracts are significantly better than that of land plants. The high-dose plant endogenous hormones in seaweed extract can well regulate the endogenous hormone levels of crops.

  1. Betaine

The main effect of betaine is to increase cell osmotic pressure. In high-salt and low-temperature environments, plant cells are prone to death due to a large amount of water loss; after the cell osmotic pressure is increased, the water retention capacity of the cells is enhanced, which can be more resistant to low-temperature and high-salt environments. Therefore, betaine can mainly improve the living ability of plants in low temperature and saline-alkali environments. In addition, betaine has a protective effect on functional enzymes in plants, and betaine also has a certain effect in repelling insects and antibacterial.

Fourth, mannitol

The main effect of mannitol is to participate in photosynthesis and enhance plant nutrient synthesis ability, which is of great significance to increase production. After the photosynthesis efficiency is improved, the plant growth ability is strengthened, the plant content is increased, and the plant immunity is indirectly improved. Mannitol can also quickly repair injured tissues of plants, speed up wound healing, unblock the blocked vascular bundles of plants, and has a certain effect on the auxiliary treatment of fusarium wilt and other diseases of the transport system.

  1. Seaweed polysaccharides and oligosaccharides

Polysaccharides are an important component of all living organisms, and play an important role in controlling cell division, regulating cell growth, and maintaining the normal metabolism of living organisms. In addition, seaweed polysaccharides can be directly absorbed by plants as carbohydrates to increase the sugar content of fruits and promote fruit coloring. Moreover, when plants encounter a harsh environment with insufficient energy synthesis of nutrients, the carbohydrates can oxidize and release energy to maintain normal plant growth.

6. alginic acid

The content of alginic acid in the seaweed is relatively high. It can play a similar effect to organic silicon during use, improve the spreading ability of water on the surface of the plant, and help the absorption quality under spray conditions. The application of alginic acid to the soil can also play a similar effect to fulvic acid, which can loosen the soil, improve the soil structure, and improve the soil moisture and air permeability.
